Blame game starts after Sanju Samson fails to make the cut for ICC Champions Trophy 2025; father levels serious allegations

Cricketer Sanju Samson’s Absence Raises Questions

Sanju Samson’s absence from the Kerala team’s preparations for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 has led to serious consequences. The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) decided not to include him in the tournament, which eventually influenced the national selectors’ decision for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Rishabh Pant was favored as the preferred wicketkeeper-batter.

Kerala Cricket Association’s Clarification

In response to the controversy, the KCA explained their reasons for not selecting Samson. Despite his stellar performances against Bangladesh and during India’s South Africa tour, Samson’s failure to attend the camp became the central issue. The KCA asserted that their decision was based on established team policies, not personal bias.

Samson’s Father Speaks Out

Amid the fallout, Samson’s father, Vishwanath, alleged that certain individuals within the KCA have long been prejudiced against his son. He claimed that other players who missed the camp were still included, pointing to inconsistent standards. Samson’s father also emphasized that their family only seeks a fair opportunity and is willing to address any mistakes through open dialogue.

Samson’s Focus Shifts to T20I Series

Looking ahead, Sanju Samson is poised to return to international cricket in the upcoming T20I series against England. He is expected to open alongside Abhishek Sharma. With a recent Player of the Series title from India’s South Africa tour, Samson aims to carry his excellent form into the England series and prove his value once again.
