Pakistan’s early exit from the Champions Trophy 2025 has sparked major discussions. After losing to India and New Zealand, the team faced heavy criticism. However, head coach Aaqib Javed has strongly defended the squad, dismissing rumors of drastic changes.
- Pakistan lost its first two matches in the Champions Trophy 2025.
- Aaqib Javed dismissed rumors about major team changes.
- Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah backed by the coach.
- Babar Azam’s experience seen as vital for the team’s future.
Aaqib Javed Dismisses Rumors of Major Overhaul
After Pakistan’s disappointing performance, reports suggested that the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) was planning to make massive changes, including dropping senior players. However, Aaqib Javed clarified that the team would not be overhauled due to a single tournament failure. He emphasized that cricket is a team game, and losses should not be blamed on just one or two players.
“A fan wants answers after a loss, but there isn’t a single reason. The whole team lost together. Shaheen, Haris, and Naseem are our best pacers and remain the future of Pakistan,” Javed said.
Backing Babar Azam
Aaqib Javed also defended Babar Azam, highlighting his experience as crucial for the squad. He pointed out that no other player in the current team has played 100 matches, making Babar’s presence vital for Pakistan’s success.
“People say, ‘Change the team,’ but who else has Babar’s experience? Except for him, no one in this squad has played 100 matches,” Javed stated.
Recent Success Should Not Be Ignored
Javed reminded critics that this is the same squad that won historic series in Australia and South Africa. He stressed that a couple of bad games should not erase their past achievements.
“Yes, they underperformed recently, but that doesn’t mean they don’t belong in the team. This squad made history by winning in Australia and South Africa. We are introducing young players while strengthening the core team.”
Pakistan’s Next Match
Pakistan will play their final group match against Bangladesh on February 27 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Although they are out of the tournament, they will aim to end their campaign on a positive note.
While Pakistan’s early exit from the Champions Trophy 2025 is disappointing, Aaqib Javed remains confident in the team’s potential. He believes in supporting key players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf rather than making reactionary changes. With the Bangladesh match approaching, fans will be eager to see how the team responds to the pressure.
