Shami’s Weight Loss Journey
After missing out on Team India’s squad post the 2023 ODI World Cup, Shami made a powerful comeback in the limited-over series against England. Despite initial struggles, he returned to top form in the match against Bangladesh, where he secured a brilliant five-wicket haul.
During an interview, Navjot Singh Sidhu asked Shami about his weight loss, assuming he had lost 5-6 kg. Shami humorously corrected him, saying, “Paaji, 9 kilo giraya hai.”
Did Shami Give Up Biryani?
Over the last 14 months, Shami faced multiple injuries and setbacks. After surgery post the 2023 World Cup, he trained hard at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to regain full fitness.
Sidhu asked him if he had to give up biryani to stay fit. Shami responded that he avoids unhealthy food but occasionally enjoys a cheat meal.
“Since 2015, I eat only once a day – just dinner. No breakfast or lunch. It is very difficult at first, but once you get used to it, it’s easy.”
Shami’s Role in Team India’s Success
With Jasprit Bumrah not in the squad, Shami’s pace attack is crucial for India’s bowling unit. His exceptional bowling against Bangladesh helped secure an important victory. He dismissed Soumya Sarkar early and dominated the opposition with an incredible five-wicket haul.
As the much-anticipated Pakistan clash approaches, Shami’s lethal pace will be a game-changer for Team India.
Shami’s Fitness and Diet Plan
Here are the key aspects of Shami’s fitness routine:
- Workout at NCA to regain strength.
- Avoids sweets and junk food.
- Eats only dinner, no breakfast or lunch.
- Allows himself a cheat meal occasionally.
