Pakistan has revealed its new jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Babar Azam, the former captain, proudly posed in the fresh design during a glamorous photoshoot. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) launched the kit at a grand event in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Champions Trophy Returns to Pakistan
For the first time in decades, an ICC tournament will take place in Pakistan. The country will host the Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to begin on February 19. This is a historic moment for Pakistan cricket.
However, not all matches will be in Pakistan. Team India refused to travel due to security reasons. Because of this, some matches will be played in Dubai.
Pakistan’s New Cricket Jersey
The Pakistan squad arrived at the grand Gaddafi Stadium event to showcase the new jersey. The team made a big change by choosing a lighter shade of green, moving away from the darker green of past years.
A few days after the event, Babar Azam shared exclusive photos of himself in the new jersey. The uniform has a modern design but still keeps the traditional green color, which represents Pakistan cricket.
Babar Azam to Open for Pakistan in Champions Trophy
For the Champions Trophy, Babar Azam will play as an opening batsman. This happened because Saim Ayub suffered a serious ankle injury and was ruled out.
However, Babar had a tough start in the tri-series against New Zealand. In the first ODI match, he scored only 10 runs in 23 balls.
Pakistan Players Drop in ICC Rankings
The International Cricket Council (ICC) released new rankings for T20I players. Unfortunately, Pakistan’s top players slipped in the rankings:
- Babar Azam moved down from 6th to 7th place.
- Mohammad Rizwan dropped to 8th place with 704 rating points.
- Shaheen Afridi fell to 4th place among bowlers.
These rankings show the players need to improve before the Champions Trophy 2025.
