Here are some important points about the match:
- There is an extra 60 minutes of time to wait for the rain to stop.

Australia vs. South Africa: A Big Battle!
Australia and South Africa are ready to play a very important match in the Champions Trophy! Both teams won their first games and are full of confidence. They both scored more than 300 runs in their last matches, so we might see another big game with lots of runs!

Strong Teams, Big Challenge!
Australia made history by chasing 352 runs and winning against England with 15 balls left! South Africa also played well, scoring 315 runs and winning by 107 runs against Afghanistan. Now, they will face each other in Rawalpindi, where the pitch is good for batting. That means bowlers will have a tough job stopping the batsmen!
Australia has some problems because their fast bowlers, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc, are not playing in the tournament. South Africa is also missing two of their fast bowlers, Anrich Nortje and Gerald Coetzee. But both teams still have good bowlers who can make a difference in the match.
This game will not decide who goes to the semi-finals, but the winner will have a big advantage in the tournament. Last time they met in a big match (World Cup 2023 semi-final), it was very close, and Australia won in the end. This time, it looks like it will be a high-scoring match with lots of action!
Players to Watch:
Nathan Ellis (Australia): He bowled very well against England, giving away only 51 runs in 10 overs. He is not very tall but uses his skills to stop batsmen from scoring easily.
Rassie van der Dussen (South Africa): He is one of South Africa’s best batsmen. He scored 52 runs against Afghanistan and wants to play even better in this match!
Team News:
Australia might not change their team. But they may replace one fast bowler with another. Their team could be:
Matthew Short
Travis Head
Steve Smith (captain)
Marnus Labuschagne
Josh Inglis (wicketkeeper)
Alex Carey
Glenn Maxwell
Ben Dwarshuis
Nathan Ellis
Adam Zampa
Spencer Johnson
For South Africa, Heinrich Klaasen will have a fitness test. If he is fit, he will play, and Tony de Zorzi might sit out. Their team could be:
Temba Bavuma (captain)
Ryan Rickelton
Rassie van der Dussen
Aiden Markram
Heinrich Klaasen (wicketkeeper)
David Miller
Wiaan Mulder
Marco Jansen
Keshav Maharaj
Kagiso Rabada
Lungi Ngidi
Pitch & Weather:
Rawalpindi is known for high scores. In the past, teams have scored more than 300 runs here! South Africa’s captain said there is a lot of dew at night, so the team batting second might have an advantage. The weather will be cool, around 17°C, with a chance of light rain in the afternoon.
Australia chased 352 runs against England, their second-highest successful chase in ODIs!
Josh Inglis became only the fourth Australian to score a century in all formats of cricket.
Since 2016, South Africa has batted first 12 times against Australia and won 10 of those matches!
Travis Head struggles against Lungi Ngidi, scoring only 15 runs off him and getting out twice!
Alex Carey (Australia): “We don’t want to chase 350 runs every time, but our bowlers will learn from the last match.”
Temba Bavuma (South Africa): “We believe we can win! We learned from the last matches, and our team is confident.”
This match is going to be very exciting! Both teams are strong, and the fans are ready for a great game. Will Australia’s batsmen shine again? Or will South Africa’s bowlers stop them? Let’s watch and find out!
