ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is starting from February 19th to March 9th, 2025, Pakistan will host the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy, a cricket tournament for the eight best-ranked men’s national teams in One Day Internationals (ODIs). Pakistan is the current defending champion, having won the 2017 edition.

As part of its 2016 decision to limit each international cricket format to a single major tournament, the ICC decided to end the Champions Trophy after the 2017 event the third Nonetheless, the tournament’s 2025 return was announced in November 2021.
A new “high-tech” cricket stadium in Islamabad was approved by the government in December 2022 to be one of the locations for the event. Ramiz Raja, the former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, was involved in the project.
At the 2023 Cricket World Cup in November, senior officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) met with the ICC Executive Board to discuss compensation in the event that the Indian cricket team declines to visit Pakistan due to political and security concerns, and the tournament is instead hosted in the “hybrid-model.”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) organizes the ICC Champions Trophy, a short, sharp competition featuring top cricketing nations in a knock-out style every four years.
The ICC Champions Trophy, formerly known as the ICC Knockout Tournament, is a quadrennial ODI competition based on international cricket rankings. Teams are selected on a pre-determined date before each competition.
The ICC Champions Trophy, previously a men’s competition, was disbanded in 2017 after the last event in England & Wales. The competition was resurrected in the 2024-2031 ICC Events cycle, featuring a women’s competition in a different format (T20 for women, ODI for men).
The Champions Trophy is a unique ICC Event, taking place midway between World Cups, offering top-ranked nations the chance to compete for silverware and entertain cricket fans worldwide with its high-stakes, knock-out format.
ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Choosing a host
On November 16, 2021, during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan was confirmed as the host of the ICC Champions Trophy, After the 2009 assault on Sri Lanka’s national cricket team, Pakistan has not hosted a major tournament since the 1996 Cricket World Cup, which it shared with India and Sri Lanka. This will be the first major tournament that Pakistan has held alone since then.
ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Qualification
As the hosts, Pakistan were automatically qualified to participate. Seven of the other top-ranked teams from the group stage of the 2023 Cricket World Cup also participated. For the first time ever, reigning champions Sri Lanka did not make the cut, and this tournament will be Afghanistan’s maiden debut.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Venues
Pakistan reportedly submitted three venues for the event on 28 April 2024. At Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. India will play the entire event in Lahore.
